Anita Anand
Details:
Anand began her career as a corporate lawyer in 1994 at Torys LLP, the storied Toronto law firm founded by the grandfather of former Toronto mayor John Tory. She then made a name for herself as a legal scholar and professor of law and business at prestigious universities like Queen’s and the University of Toronto.
Anand’s husband, John Knowlton, is an executive at OMERS, the Ontario municipal employees’ pension fund. Anand’s ties to OMERS became the subject of a scandal this year when Prime Minister Carney announced subsidies for Strait Crossing Development, a toll operator which is 34% owned by OMERS.
