Before his election to parliament, Blair was the Chief of the Toronto Police Service, a position he held from 2005 to 2015. While Chief, Blair oversaw the largest mass arrest in Canadian history during the 2010 G20 summit. As a result of police brutality during the mass arrests, some of the nearly 1,000 arrestees began a class action lawsuit against the Toronto police and won a $16.5 million settlement.
