Before entering politics, Richards owned a real estate business. He has also worked in the oil field industry and on his family’s farm in Olds, Alberta.
Richards is the beneficiary of a family trust fund. His wife, Carmen Richards, is director of and holds a controlling interest in the Domino Financial Corporation, an accounting firm in Airdrie, Alberta. She is also director and vice president of the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce.
