Small holds a controlling interest in the local restaurant chain Smitty’s Restaurant and Lounge and in Square Meals Inc., both in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. Square Meals Inc. was a beneficiary of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program, which issued closed temporary work permits to immigrant workers.
From 1994 to 2002, Small worked in his family’s fishing business. Previously, he was a consultant.
