Before being elected to the federal parliament, Deltell was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec for six and a half years. He was the leader of Action démocratique du Québec from 2009 until it merged with the CAQ in 2012.
Prior to entering politics, Deltell was a TV and radio journalist for over 20 years. He has been employed at TQS, TVA, Radio-Canada, and CIRO-FM.
