Before being elected to the federal parliament, Jaczek was a member of the Ontario provincial parliament from 2007 to 2018 where she was social service minister from 2014 to 2016 and health minister for five months at the end of her mandate in 2018.
Jaczek was the commissioner of health services for the regional municipality of York from 1988 to 2006. Previously, she was a physician in various clinics and hospitals in southern Ontario from 1974 to 1985, becoming the medical director of clinical services at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit from 1985 to 1986.
