Before entering politics, McCauley was vice president of sales and marketing for the Wingate hotel in Edmonton. He has previously been general manager of several hotels including the Coast Edmonton Plaza (2009–2014), the Coast Victoria Harbourside (2005–2009), the Radisson Ottawa Parliament Hill (2002–2005), the Delta St. John’s (2001–2002), the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown (1999–2000), and the Mayfield Inn in Edmonton (1997–1999).
McCauley holds significant investment assets in the form of shares.
