Before becoming an MP, Lamoureux was a member of the Manitoba legislature from 2003 to 2010 and from 1988 to 1999. He was an air traffic controller for the Canadian military in the 1980s.
Lamoureux and his spouse jointly own a rental property in Winnipeg. His brother, Darrin Lamoureux, was the leader of the Saskatchewan Liberal Party from 2013 to 2017. His daughter, Cindy, has been a member of the Manitoba legislature since 2016.
