Before entering politics, Waugh was a sportscaster for CTV Saskatoon. His campaign materials report he was a broadcaster for 40 years. From 2006 to 2015, he was a school trustee for the Saskatoon Public School Division.
Waugh holds significant investment assets in the form of stocks of Tourmaline Oil Corp and units of Centurion Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust and of Bonfoy Properties Limited Partnership.
