Before becoming an MP, Villeneuve sat on the city council of Bromont, Quebec from 2013 to 2025, becoming mayor from 2017 to 2025.
In 2011, Villeneuve founded Productions Octopus, a media production in the Montreal area. From 2000 to 2005, he was a producer and vice president at Productions Temps Libre. In 1992, he founded the Répertoire Québécois des Figurants, an extras casting company for television. From 1988 to 1991, he worked for the magazine 7 Jours.
From 1983 to 1989, Villeneuve owned and operated D.O.S. Ltée, a computer hardware and software wholesaler.
