Before her election to parliament, Gull-Masty was grand chief of the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee from 2021 to 2025, having been its deputy grand chief since 2017. Previously, she was deputy chief of the Cree Nation of Waswanipi, a community in Eeyou Istchee territory.
From 2012 to 2021, Gull-Masty owned and operated Kapatakun Consulting, a management consulting firm.
