Dalton was an elementary and high school teacher for 19 years in Pitt Meadows, B.C. From 2009 to 2017, he was a member of the B.C. legislative assembly for the B.C. Liberals (now B.C. United). Previously, Dalton was a reservist in the Canadian military and worked as a pastor in the Vancouver area.
