Michael was deputy chief of staff to Justin Trudeau from 2021 to 2025. From 2019 to 2021, she was chief of staff to the Secretariat of the Treasury Board of Canada. From 2016 to 2019, she worked for Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos. From 2009, she was an advisor to Emmanuel Dubourg, a Liberal member of the Quebec National Assembly whom she later married.
From 2014 to 2016, Michel was a trainer and columnist at the networking business Lise Cardinal et Associés. She has also held positions in the private sector as a training advisor and business development advisor. From 1994 to 2000, she was a special advisor to the Organization of American States (OAS).
Michel’s father, Smarck Michel, was Prime Minister of Haiti from 1994 to 1995. Michel’s husband, Emmanuel Dubourg, was a Liberal MP from 2013 to 2025 and a member of Quebec’s National Assembly from 2007 to 2013. Michel owns a rental property in Montreal, and her husband owns one in Gatineau.
