Before his election to parliament, Connors was the executive assistant to Ken MacDonald, his predecessor as MP. From 2013 to 2017, he was a municipal councillor in Conception Bay South. From 2006 to 2020, he was the executive director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture.
