Roman Baber
Details:
Baber was the Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario for the riding of York Centre from 2018 until 2022. He was removed from Progressive Conservative caucus in 2021 over his opposition to COVID lockdown restrictions in the province and did not run for re-election in 2022. Before entering politics, he was a partner in a boutique law firm in North York.
During his time in the Ontario parliament, Baber authored a report calling for changes in the Ontario Autism program which provides funding for children with autism. Among his recommendations was that the government reimburse service providers directly. Baber’s spouse, Nancy Marchese, is the CEO of Breakthrough Autism, a Toronto-based autism treatment centre which would benefit from such a policy.
