Reid is chairman of Giant Tiger Stores Ltd., founded by his father Gordon Reid. He owns a significant interest in that company.
From 1990 to 1991, he wrote for the American libertarian journal Liberty. From 1992 to 1994, he contributed to the conservative magazine Alberta Report. He has published two books: Canada Remapped: How the Partition of Quebec Will Reshape the Nation (1992) and Lament for a Notion: The Life and Death of Canada’s Bilingual Dream (1993).
Reid holds significant investment assets in the form of shares. He solely owns 2602435 Ontario Ltd., a real estate holding company in Perth, Ontario and holds a significant ownership interest in Jascob Corporation, an Ottawa-based investment holding company.
Reid owns two rental properties Smiths Falls, Ontario, one in Perth, and one in Kissimmee, Florida, as well as vacant land located in South Frontenac, Ontario. His wife, Robyn Mulcahy, owns a rental property in Ottawa.
