Casey was a lawyer at Stewart McKelvey, the largest law firm in Atlantic Canada, from 1989 to 2003, becoming a partner in 1993. From 2003 to 2008, Casey was president of the Paderno Group of Companies. During this time, he was also President of the P.E.I. Liberal Party. He returned to Stewart McKelvey as managing partner from 2008 until his election to parliament.
Casey’s wife, Deirdre Casey, is the Head of Operations and part owner of Other Ocean Group, a company that develops video games. Other Ocean’s subsidiary Sculpin QA received federal funds through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency during Sean Casey’s time in office.
Deirdre Casey owns a rental property in St. John’s Newfoundland. She sits on the board of directors of Videogames PEI, the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, Canadian Interactive Alliance, Innovation PEI, and Nature Conservancy Canada.
