Before being elected, Stubbs worked for the Wildrose Party, first as chief of staff to then-leader Danielle Smith (2010–2012), and then as director of legislative affairs (2012–2014) while the Wildrose Party was Alberta’s official opposition party.
From 2008 to 2009, Stubbs was a senior consultant at Hill & Knowlton, a public relations firm whose checkered past includes advocacy for the tobacco and fossil-fuel industries, as well as allegations it spread false information to drum up support for the Gulf War. From 2007 to 2008, she was a public relations manager for SAIT Polytechnic in Calgary.
Stubbs worked on oil sands files for the Government of Alberta from 2003 to 2007. While in university, she was an assistant to Reform Party leaders Preston Manning and Deborah Grey.
Stubbs owns vacant land in Two Hills, Alberta, Stubbs’ husband, Shayne Saskiw, is a former Alberta MLA. He co-owns an investment property in Edmonton. He holds a significant interest in several Alberta companies, including the transportation network company TappCar Inc., the consulting firm Three Eagles Advisors Ltd., and a number of numbered companies.
