Viviane Lapointe
Details:
Before entering politics, Lapointe was from 2019 to 2021 the executive director of Community Living Greater Sudbury, a subsidiary of Community Living Ontario. Community Living Ontario presents itself as a charity supporting intellectually disabled people. Its programming included “sheltered workshops”—menial jobs for disabled people that paid far below the minimum wage—until the province outlawed this practice in 2019.
Lapointe has held several senior positions in marketing and communications in the public and private sectors. From 2017 to 2019, she was president of Core Communication. From 1998 to 2018, she was the head of communications for the Sudbury-area hospital Health Sciences North. From 1991 to 1998, she was a communications officer for Ontario’s Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. From 1988 to 1991, she worked in marketing for Science North, a science museum in Sudbury.
