Before being elected to parliament, Grant was an intergovernmental affairs officer for the Musqueam Indian Band from 2019 to 2025. During the same period, he sat on the board of the First Nations Health Council and the nonprofit organization New Relationship Trust.
From 2014 to 2017, Grant was a special advisor to Liberal B.C. Premier Christy Clark. From 2012 to 2014, he was the B.C. advisor to the national chief of the Assembly of First Nations.
Grant was also employed by the Musqueam Indian Band from 2003 to 2014, first as a researcher, then a band councillor, and finally as business coordinator.
