Before entering federal politics, Naqvi was CEO of the nonprofit organization Institute for Canadian Citizenship from 2019 to 2021. From 2007 to 2018, he was a member of the Ontario provincial parliament, holding several cabinet positions and eventually becoming Attorney General of the province in 2016.
From 2006 to 2007, Naqvi was associate director of the Centre for Trade Policy and Law. He practised law at Lang Michner from 2005 to 2006. From 1999 to 2005, he was employed by the lobbyist and consulting firm Flavell Kubrick, becoming partner in 2004.
Naqvi holds significant investment assets. His wife, Christine McMillan, owns a rental property in Ottawa.
