While unemployment reaches between 25% and 30% in Atikamekw communities, logging companies exploiting their territory amass hundreds of millions of dollars. Fragmented by colonial laws into several reserves, the Atikamekw are now demanding their unification into a single nation, recognized and sovereign on their lands.
